2008 ANNUAL SHOW
To be held as part of the the Leeds Flower Show at Lawnswood School, Ring Road, Westwood Park. Leeds LS16 5AG Saturday/Sunday 4 thand 5th August 2008

CLASSES 240 to 243 INCLUSIVE ARE FOR MEMBERS OF THE WEST YORKSHIRE FUCHSIA SOCIETY ONLY.
BEGINNERS CLASSES
240 One pot - any cultivar. Maximum pot size 165mm (6.5 Inches)
241 Two pots - any cultivars. In separate pots - any size standard pot
NOVICES CLASSES
242 One pot - single/semi-double, any cultivar. Maximum pot size 140mm (5.5 Inches)
243 One pot - double, any cultivar. Maximum pot size 165mm (6.5 Inches)
OPEN CLASSES
244 Six open Fuchsia flowers - any cultivars. Must be named and displayed in boxes supplied by the Society. (These exhibits will be shown on the Saturday Only)
245 One pot 90mm (3.5 Inches) - any cultivar
246 One pot 102mm (4 Inches) - single/semi double.
247 One pot 127 - 140mm (5 to 5.5 Inches) - single/semi double.
248 One pot, maximum 165mm (6.5 Inches) - double
249 One pot 153 to 165mm (6 to 6.5 Inches) - any cultivar
250 One pot, minimum 153mm (6 Inches) - any cultivar
251 One plant Triphylla or Triphylla type, maximum pot size 216mm (8.5 Inches)
252 One plant Species or Species variant (NOT Encliandra) - in any size standard pot
253 One pot, any standard size - Encliandra type
254 One pot, maximum 165mm (6.5 Inches) - with variegated/ornamental foliage. Flowers are not taken into consideration.
255 Two pots, maximum 165mm (6.5 Inches) - flowering plants of the same cultivar, grown as a matching pair
256 Three pots, 127 - 140mm (5 - 5.5 Inches) - any cultivars (except Triphylla)
257 Three pots, 90mm (3.5 Inches) - any cultivars (except Triphylla)
258 One mini-standard. Maximum pot size 140mm (5.5 Inches)
259 One plant - hardy variety - maximum pot size 216mm (8.5 Inches)
260 One plant - any cultivar - trained as a Bonsai. A Bonsai style dish should be used.
261 An unusual container. Any number of Fuchsia plants, WHICH MUST HAVE BEEN GROWN IN THE CONTAINER - the name of the Fuchsia grown should be appropriate to the container used.
262 One or more plants of the same cultivar, trained in any shape other than bush or standard (ie: Fan, Pillar, Cone, Ring etc.). In any size standard pot
263 One pot of an unusual cultivar (WYFS 20 limited list) in any size standard pot. (See conditions for exhibitors number 7 for restrictions relating to this class)
264 One quarter standard - in any size standard pot
265 One full or half standard - in any size standard pot
266 One wire basket of Fuchsia plants - diameter of basket not to exceed 406mm (16 Inches). Flat bottomed baskets of commercial production may be used - any number of Fuchsia plants of the same cultivar.
267 One plastic hanging container - diameter not to exceed 279mm (11 Inches) - any number of Fuchsia plants of one cultivar
268 One plastic hanging container - diameter not to exceed 203mm (8 Inches) - any number of Fuchsia plants of one cultivar
269 One plastic urn or tub, maximum diameter 330mm (13 Inches) - approximate depth of compost 178mm (7 Inches) containing any number of Fuchsia plants (any cultivars of the exhibitor’s choice)

DEFINITIONS
1. A fuchsia bloom for show purposes should have four sepals. Some cultivars habitually throw blooms, with more or less than four sepals, and this should not be treated as a cultural fault. A single flower should have four petals, a semi-double should have five to seven petals, and a double flower should have eight or more petals. Semi-double flowers should be exhibited in classes for single flower fuchsias.

Quarter Standard 10 Inches - 18 Inches Mini Standard 6 Inches - 10 Inches
(Measurements taken from top of compost to underside of first branch)
3. Standard Pots have the inside diameter of the pot approximately the same as the perpendicular height, but with a distinct taper.
4. A BEGINNER is a competitor who has not won a FIRST PRIZE in any previous year.
5. A NOVICE is a competitor who has not won a FIRST PRIZE, with the possible exception of the Beginners Class.
CONDITIONS FOR EXHIBITORS
1. All plants must be grown in standard terracotta coloured pots, as defined above, except in classes 260, 261, 266, 267, 268 and 269.
Only commercially produced hanging containers will be permitted for classes 266, 267 and 268.
2. All plants must be the property of the exhibitor and have been in his or her possession for at least three months prior to the show. Plants must be shown in the final sized pots or containers in which they have been grown.
3. All plants must be clean and free of pests and diseases. Plants with obvious infestation will be removed from the show.
4. All exhibits must be correctly and legibly named. If an exhibitor does not know the name of the cultivar or species, it should be labelled UNKNOWN.
5. Any protest must be made within one hour of the show opening to the public and any such protest will be considered by such members of the Committee as are present. Any Committee Member having an interest in the objection or dispute cannot act.
6. To facilitate watering of the plants during the show, all pots must be contained in appropriately sized plant pot saucers.

All trophies are the property of the West Yorkshire Fuchsia Society and must be returned to the Show Manager in a good clean condition by the 31st July 2009
